Chocolate Ribbon Bars
Like any kid, I used to love making Rice Krispie treats with my mom. I still enjoy them to this very day. But the best part about Rice Krispie treats is making variations with peanut butter or butterscotch or chocolate. This particular recipe combines all those great elements into one dessert … which is why it’s an all-time favorite of mine.
1 - 11-oz. bag butterscotch baking chips
1 cup peanut butter
8 cups Rice Krispies cereal
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter, cubed
2 tsp. water
3/4 cup powdered sugar
In a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, melt butterscotch baking chips and peanut butter. Stir until smooth. Gradually stir in the cereal until well-coated. Press half of the cereal mixture into the bottom of a greased 9-by-13-inch baking pan. Set the remaining cereal mixture aside. In another large microwave-safe mixing bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butter. Mix until smooth. Stir in the water until blended. Gradually add the powdered sugar, stirring until smooth. Spread over the cereal layer. Cover and refrigerate for 10 minutes or until chocolate layer is set. Spread the remaining cereal mixture over the top. Chill before cutting.
